Kim Moldofsky is a Chicago-area Social Media Mom of teen boys ages 13 and 15, as well as a puppy adopted in the summer of 2013. On this blog, she used to write about parenting gifted children (learn from her mistakes!) and marketing to moms, but now focuses on whatever catches her attention.
In July 2012 she launched her newest blog, The Maker Mom, where she muses on science, STEM, technology, gifted education and making cool stuff. See her on Chicago's WGN morning news talking about Summer Science Fun and hot holiday tech gifts for kids. She also founded #STEMchat, a monthly Twitter chat that brings together parents, educators and STEM professionals to share information and resources. Since 2012, an increasing amount of Kim's online time is spent on The Maker Mom, so be sure to read about her there.
She makes a lot of videos including her own not-ready-for-HGTV house-hunting series. Her YouTube channel has more than 100,000 views. Additionally, she is also the founder of MomImpact, which connects brands and bloggers for conversations and events.
After staying home with her children until the youngest started kindergarten, her career was in the toilet. But she put on her big girl panties, so to speak, and now she's a published freelance writer, experienced problogger, vlogger, oft-quoted influencer, informative speaker, and savvy consultant whose clients have included Kleenex, Kenmore, LeapFrog, ConAgra Foods and Subaru. Since cutting her blogging teeth in 2005, Kim has written for BabyCenter's Momformation blog and other popular sites. In fact, she was quoted in Huffington Post's Complete Guide to Blogging.
Kim founded the Chicago Social Media Mom Facebook group and is active on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. She has attended all of the major women's blogging conferences, appearing as a speaker at many of them.
Kim likes to bake and is coaching the Food Science event for the Science Olympiad team at her sons' school. She leans "green" and likes to cook healthy meals, garden, travel, read, entertain and spend time outdoors, but at the dawn of 2012, she's mostly focused on getting her house in order.
